Account User Privacy Policy

UtilityData.io provides a platform that allows you to share your utility account, billing, and usage information (“Utility Data”) with third parties that you authorize (the “Service”). When you use the Site, Software, or the Service, you consent to the current version of this Privacy Policy. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SERVICE.

This Account Holder Privacy Policy only applies to utility account holders who wish to share their Utility Data with third parties. If you are a party who wishes to use our Service to access Utility Data from utility account holders, our Service Privacy Policy applies.

What Information We Collect

We collect a variety of information from you through the UtilityData.io website at utilitydata.io (the “Site”) or the UtilityData.io – enabled third-party software used by your third-party technology provider (“Software”). The following are the types of information we collect:

  • Authentication information used to access your Utility website, including username and password. The information is encrypted and securely stored on our servers. You can revoke your authorization for keeping that info at any time.
  • Unique access information, including your IP address and browser type.
  • Utility information, including account holder name, address, usage, rate class, and current energy supplier

How Information is Shared

  • We share your Utility Data with the persons/companies your authorize. You can revoke the authorization at any time. We never share your login credentials with any third parties
  • As part of Utility Data access you give us Letter of Agency (LOA), authorizing us to access utility information on your behalf. We may share the LOA with your utility company if requested.
  • We may disclose your information if / when required by law. That includes compliance with various regulations or court order.

Once the data is accessed / downloaded by authorized persons we have no control how the data is used, and therefore are not responsible for any safeguards of your utility data stored/used by authorized persons.

We never provide your data to third-party marketers including obfuscated data or summary statistics.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

You can delete your data and revoke our and authorized person’s access to your data at any time by contacting us at support@utilitydata.io. This access/data removal only applies to the data stored on our servers, and not to the data stored by Authorized Persons.

Security

We’re committed to online data security, and for that reason we take technical and organizational measures to protect your data against accidental or unlawful destruction or accidental loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure or access. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is absolutely secure. Therefore, while we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Cookies

“Cookies” are small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters that are downloaded by your web browser when you visit a web site. We may use cookies for purposes of authorizing access to content and identifying users across multiple requests. We may use both session cookies and persistent cookies when you access and use the Site or Software. A session cookie disappears after you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser and may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the Site or Software.
